NGPT stands for Next Generation Placement Tests. It began with a practical question - how to improve outdated placement testing practices with an adaptive, innovative solution.
Designed by schools, for schools
NGPT started as a collaboration between several European language schools and a tech company from Split, Croatia - Amber IT Solutions.
Amber is a company specialized in developing and delivering personalized IT solutions for schools and provider of the globally awarded Amber School Manager system. Partner schools had one task for their tech counterpart - create an efficient, accurate and adaptive placement tests which can be completed at any time, anywhere.
The test has been in use since 2022. With hundreds of thousands answered language questions, we are able to continuously monitor and improve its performance.
How it came about
2021
The project starts
Language schools and developers set out to replace the paper placement test, with support from the Erasmus+ programme.
2022
Test goes live
The test opens to candidates world-wide in six European languages. The initial database contains thousands of questions created and moderated by teachers.
2024
The school portal
Schools get an account of their own: they send tests to their candidates, follow who has finished and read the results.
2026
A new engine
Questions are measured against the answers of real candidates, the bank is reviewed question by question in five languages, and the test becomes shorter and more exact.
The partnership
NGPT was developed in an Erasmus+ KA2 project by Jantar, Amber IT and partner organisations: language schools that knew what the test had to do, and the companies that built it.
